Sex and the City 2 Special - Interviews & B-rolls
|
|
Watch interviews with Chris Noth, Cynthia Nixon, Kirstin Davis, Michael Patrick King, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall as well as b-rolls and lots of teasers! On a press conference the cast is debating whether or not the mics are working and that somehow everything seems to be much more muted in a shoe department :) As the press conference is about to start Mr. Michael Patrick King asks the cast: "Now all go to your theatre voices please!" Talking about circumstance of the different characters in the movie and whether the actors can relate to them in their personal life many great insights were given. Miranda doesn\'t know what do do now that she has a terrific job, the one she always wanted, and all over sudden she is just miserable in it. Cynthia Nixon thinks about her character that the older you get the more you get a sense of yourself, you start learning to value yourself and you speak out for yourself, protect yourself. "If you are miserable being a lawyer it might be better not to be one at all." she says. Carry finds herself thinking about married life and tradition. Why is it that we run toward it and why do we push it away again? Why do we question it? How do we re-define tradition for ourselves and how do our friends define it? What better place to ask these questions than in the Middle East. :) Sarah Jessica Parker says that women of a certain generation aren\'t even conscious of the fact that they are constantly questioning themselves. Women are in the process of redefining their roles all the time. "It is the great gift our mothers gave us, the opportunity to rethink the roles that we take on in very conventional institutions like partnership, work environment or in a home with children.." For Samantha it is"..Menopause, Menopause....and I didn\'t have to do any research!" Kim Cattrall laughs. Charlotte who tried to create the perfect picture and keeping it all under control now knows she needs to be honest instead of keeping the facade up. Kirstin Davis: "That\'s what\'s wonderful about going away out of normal day to day life you get to appreciate it, look at it and analyze it and share about it..." Sarah Jessica Parker: "It\'s hard to deny that there is that wonderful search/ endeavor for love ...and the clothing thanks to Patricia Field is fun and the souffle ..but there is an emotional ingredient, it\'s the disability to articulate emotion, embarrassing and candid and intimate and the humorous way of observing our emotional journeys...that a lot of people in the gay community love and are very comfortable saying that. Straight men now seem to admit that they watched it maybe because the wife/ girlfriend forced them ..or..occasionally they watch it on their own!....if the remote got stuck.. Cynthia Nixon: "These four women are each other family.. Maybe you have a family that you come from that you love or maybe u have trouble with them. But you come to NY and you create your own new family!!" Chris Noth: "It\'s a conversation between the head and the heart. The head is dealing with all the "shoulds" that society puts out there as to what is real.." Question: "What the most empowering thing about being a fun and fearless woman?" Kirstin Davis: "The general thing is that we are different characters, powerful each in their own right, living through it together and I love what we present." Kim Cattrall: "The most powerful thing is that we have encouraged a lot of women to change the way they feel about being single, about having cancer, about getting married and then being deserted, being alone and being lonely. I think we\'ve addressed them and encourage them to come together and that\'s a very powerful thing. In this era of post-feminism I think that we\'ve helped define what it is to be successful, smart and also feminine." Sarah Jessica Parker: "Those women love each other. I love how decent and honorable they are towards one another, how much they respect one another. They have found this incomparable friendship that is truly inspiring." "Women would much rather be allies then adversaries." Cynthia Nixon: "The feminist movement is about choices. These four made such different life choices . It doesn\'t mean you have to have a career, you have to not be married....there is a whole range of choices that are out there." Michael Patrick King: "We filmed on 5th Ave in New York in front of Bergdorf Goodman with gazillions of people watching and supporting. We went to Morocco..one, two, three, four...sorry Chris..not five..people didn\'t really know us. We shot in Morocco for Abu Dhabi on "Lawrence of Arabia" dunes! It was a completely different time, different colors, different sounds, big meals in tents..and camels with attitude. It was an extraordinary experience and a magical time. It\'s big old time oldy fashion movie making . We actually went far away and made a Hollywood movie. The inspiration for the second movie was the audience at the first movie. I have seen them dressed up and having cocktails before, going out in groups, taking pictures of themselves. It was like an interactive party and I wanted the new movie to be a continuation of that party. It was the beginning of an economic downturn and as a movie maker I was thinking about my job. I thought Hollywood should take people on a big vacation that maybe they couldn\'t afford themselves, on a big party, a big extravagant vacation. I thought it was our job to give everyone the vacation that maybe they can\'t afford now and they can go with their girlfriends to the night out and go on vacation with their other girlfriends which are these four ladies. Men will be surprised how much the movie is for them as well." Sarah Jessica Parker: "Its wonderful there\'s not one villainous move by any man in this movie. Any consequences are in the part of us and the choices we are making and some momentarily reckless behavior or cavalier attitude about cultural standards it is all us and we come home frankly a little wiser.." |
